Lathrop GPM LLP
Law Firm

Monique D. Jewett-Brewster, an accomplished attorney, sought to enhance her executive leadership skills and executive presence. Despite her substantial experience and accolades, she wanted to gain a deeper insight into herself and increase her confidence in networking settings.
She is a partner at and the leader of Lathrop GPM LLP’s Financial Services practice group.
Gaining Confidence and Presence
"As a partner at the firm, I wanted to work on my executive leadership and presence so that I could feel, and appear, more confident, particularly in networking settings."
Monique was comfortable with her legal services, knowing she had the skills and the education to do the job, but outside of the law firm environment, she sometimes lacked confidence in connecting with new people.
With KLR Consulting’s executive coaching, she gained strategies to overcome feelings of imposter syndrome, which can be an impediment to authentic relationship building. In doing so, she learned how to shift from internal doubt to external impact.
Finding Her Authority
"I think a lot of women can feel that way, especially in settings where there are very few other people who look like them," Monique said, highlighting the common experience of imposter syndrome. She emphasized the importance of feeling grounded in professional spaces to effectively connect and engage with others.
"Kristi is unique in that she is genuinely warm, yet also very skilled at helping you address the root issues. She is a pleasure to work with, and she also drives real results."
Monique worked with KLR Consulting to develop strategies that would help her feel more comfortable and confident, particularly in networking situations. The coaching focused on enhancing her ability to interject effectively and project a sense of authority rooted in her knowledge and experience.
Kristi helped Monique approach networking events with curiosity and the goal of making the other person feel comfortable and appreciated. "I appreciated that Kristi pointed out that I am not the only one in these settings who can feel this way, and that maybe I could serve others by helping them feel more at ease. That small shift changed the way I felt."
Kristi also provided a sounding board for Monique, allowing her to brainstorm strategies for relationship building and obtain constructive, unbiased feedback. She held Monique accountable, circling back after an event to see if the strategies they discussed worked.
The Power of the 4C’s
Monique’s growth is a clear example of the 4 Cs in action:
Competence builds confidence, which fuels credibility—and from that, comes courage.
As she identified her values, she started owning her truth. She stepped more fully into rooms—not to fit in, but to lead.
Coaching for Results
"Kristi seemed to always be thinking about me. She would send me articles that she thought I would appreciate, and congratulatory messages via snail mail to celebrate getting through one of my conferences or events. She always made me feel like I mattered!"
Through her work with KLR Consulting, Monique now brings greater confidence, presence, and impact to every interaction. She connects with authenticity, speaks with authority, and leads with courage.
Monique says, "Kristi is unique in that she is genuinely warm, yet also very skilled at helping you address the root issues. She is a pleasure to work with, and she also drives real results."
Her story is proof: When leaders do the inner work, the outer results follow—and their presence becomes a powerful force for inclusion and change.
